COMPRESSION

Compression Garments

These garments are designed to prevent further swelling by encouraging the lymphatics to drain away fluid from the area. They provide firm resistance to the tissues, encouraging movement of the lymphatic fluid during muscle activity. The garment is worn during the day and removed at night. Some of these garments are available on the NHS.

Compression Bandages

Compression bandages are used when a limb has become fibrosed, misshapen or larger, or when the skin has become damaged from the use of compression garments.

The bandages are applied in layers and worn continuously for two to three weeks. They are re-applied during the course of the treatment (Mondays-Fridays). As the bandages are bulky, patients are advised to wear loose clothing. If the legs and feet are bandaged, it is recommended that the patient wear a shoe one size larger than their regular shoe size. A near-normal lifestyle can be achieved during treatment, but your insurance company should be advised if driving is continued.

Initial evaluation appointment £120 - 1hr session
Follow-up MLD treatment sessions with bandaging £95 (1hr). A personalised plan will be discussed with you in your initial consultation appointment.
